Atlantic Broadband's fiber internet service is a high-speed fiber-optic service available in select areas, providing lightning-fast internet speeds and unbeatable reliability. Enjoy the best internet, WiFi, TV and phone experiences with up to one gigabit per second (Gbps) download speeds and 600 megabits per second (Mbps) upload speeds.

No, unlike other cable providers, Atlantic Broadband’s Internet services provide an unlimited amount of data with no additional charges based on usage.

At this time, customers in fiber areas must lease a fiber gateway from Atlantic Broadband to ensure the best possible internet experience. There are no certified devices available for sale that can be used with the fiber service.

We know you’ll love the speed you’ll receive from our Fiber GigaFast service and how this super-fast speed will let you use multiple devices with optimal performance, but our Fiber GigaFast service may be faster than your computer’s/device’s capabilities. In fact, nearly all smartphones and tablets are limited to speeds well below 1 Gigabit. This doesn’t mean you will get slow speeds. It only means that the actual speeds you will receive may vary.

Customers who have optimal hardware and connections should expect wired speed tests in excess of 900 Mbps on the proper Atlantic Broadband speed test site, depending on how many devices are connected to the gateway.

There are many factors that can affect what speeds are achieved over WiFi. When connected to Fiber Internet wirelessly, the speeds you will actually receive vary based on the WiFi protocol (G/N/AC), the device being used to access the internet, and the distance between the WiFi antenna and the device. We recommend you refer to the manufacturer’s materials to obtain information specific to your actual device.

All customers who subscribe to our Fiber Internet service will need to lease a fiber gateway from Atlantic Broadband. This is to ensure you receive optimum speeds and service.

FIBER TROUBLESHOOTING

Your fiber modem should operate continuously without maintenance. You can leave the power to the modem on even when your computer is off. If your fiber modem isn't working, try these troubleshooting measures:

  1. Check your cable TV service. If there's a cable outage, neither your TV nor the Internet connection will work.
  2. Check all of your cable connections. If any of the connections to your fiber modem are loose, you may not be able to send or receive data.
  3. Reset the fiber modem by unplugging the power cord to it from the wall outlet. Wait 60 seconds, plug it back in.
  4. If you have a surge protector, make sure it is plugged in and that it doesn’t need to be reset.

FIBER INSTALLATION

Fiber installations are more complex than our standard internet installations, especially the first time fiber is installed. It involves running fiber-optic cables from the pole to your home. Therefore, it’s important to understand that due to the complexity of this type of installation, the time that it will take the technician to complete may be longer than you might normally expect. Your technician will be performing the majority of the work before your scheduled appointment time.

All first-time fiber internet installations will be handled professionally by Atlantic Broadband technicians. They will bring the fiber signal to your home, set up your internet equipment, and test the signal strength. The technician will assist you in connecting to your new WiFi network. If you are having “WiFi Your Way” installed at the same time, the technician will walk you through downloading the WiFi Your Way Application from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and sign in to it to get the most out of the service.

If you are having “WiFi Your Way” installed, go to either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and search for “WiFi Your Way”, and download the App to your smartphone or tablet. That’s it!

You can connect any wireless device by opening up your WiFi settings, selecting your WiFI network name and entering your password. If you have WiFi Your Way, open the WiFi Your Way App, tap the icon on the bottom left corner with three bars, and your WiFi network name will be listed under “WiFi name”. To get your password, click on the “Access” tab. If you do not have WiFi Your Way, your network name and password will be displayed on the sticker on the side of the fiber modem.
