Connecting Modem

To connect to your new WiFi network, you can keep the default WiFi network names and password OR you can rename them. To connect to the default WiFi network:

  1. Look for the label on the bottom of your gateway (example shown here). You’ll see both 2.4GHz and 5GHz “SSIDs” (5G SSID is in the yellow box), as well as a “Pre-Shared Key” or password (Pre-Shared Key for both networks in the blue box).

  2. Go to “Settings” on a smartphone or laptop.
  3. Locate the unique 5G SSID on your gateway, and then select it from your available WiFi networks list. If you don’t see the 5G SSID listed, select the 2.4G SSID instead. Then input the password or “Pre-Shared Key” from your label. Your device is now connected to your home WiFi network!
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to connect all the wireless devices in your home to your new WiFi network.

Self-Installation FAQs

Self-installation allows you to order your internet service and hook it up yourself with a self-installation kit. It gives you flexibility to do it on your own time at no additional cost. All of the equipment, cords, and instructions are included in the self-installation kit.

First, we’ll ship you a self-installation kit and send you an email with order confirmation and package tracking information. You should expect to receive the self-installation kit within 3-5 days, and it will have everything you’ll need to get your internet service up-and-running.

The self-installation kit includes a new gateway, power cord, coaxial cable, and instructions to help you do the installation. There is even an Ethernet cord in case you have a device that needs to be wired directly to the gateway.

A gateway is a device that combines the functions of a modem and a router. The modem is the device that connects your connected device to the Internet. The router is a companion device to your modem that takes the information from your modem and sends it wirelessly to your WiFi devices like smart phones, tablets, gaming consoles, and computers.

Simply follow the instructions included in the Ready-Set-Install Kit. Connect the coaxial cable from the wall to the gateway, then connect the power cord to the gateway and plug in. Your gateway will power up and set itself up automatically. When set-up process is complete, the top light on the front will be glowing steady. Then you can connect with either wired or wireless devices.

If you cannot connect your device wirelessly, you may connect directly to the gateway with the enclosed Ethernet cord.

No, it is optional. You can connect any wireless device by using the default Network Names (SSIDs) and Pre-Shared Key (password) displayed on the label on the bottom of the gateway.

Follow these steps to change the default WiFi network names and passwords:

  1. On your WiFi device:
    1. Open up an internet web browser (like Safari or Chrome).
    2. Type into the address bar and hit enter/go.
    3. This will take you to an “Arris Home Network” page.

  2. On the Arris page:
    1. Create an ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password to manage your new gateway’s settings. It must be at least 8 characters long with at least one uppercase and lowercase letter and one special character. Please note that this ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password is NOT your WiFi password for your new WiFi network.
    2. Enter the CAPTCHA code.

  3. Create a WiFi name and password for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Leave the encryption method as is (WPA2 PSK)

  4. On the next page, log in with the ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR username “admin” and the new ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password you created in Step 2a. Now, go to the WiFi settings on your WiFi device:
    1. Select one of your newly created WiFi network names created in Step 3. You will be prompted to input the new WiFi password you set up at the same time.
    2. For the best experience, connect to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
    3. Repeat this connection process on all of the WiFi devices in your home.

Make sure that the cords are tightly attached to the gateway and plugged into the wall. If it still does not power on try a different outlet.

Try unplugging your modem from the power outlet for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Once it reboots, if you still cannot connect, please call 1-844-579-0697 for assistance.
