10-Digit Dialing: PA Phone Customers

On Saturday, April 3, 2021, a mandatory 10-digit dialing in the 814 area code will go into effect. This means that as of April 3, you will need to dial 814, followed by the 7 digit phone number, for all outgoing calls.

This measure, undertaken by the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission, will accommodate a new area code—area code 582—which will be used for newly-activated phone numbers in the near future.

Note that your phone service from Atlantic Broadband will not change and your current telephone number will not change. If you currently have an 814 area code, that area code will also remain unchanged.

If you’re using the automatic dialing feature on your phone with pre-programmed numbers, please be aware that you will need to reprogram your settings for 10-digit dialing.

While 7-digit dialing will continue to be available through April 3, 2021, we encourage you to begin using 10-digit dialing to become accustomed to the new requirement.

Thank you for being a loyal Atlantic Broadband customer.
